How to Memorize Hundreds of Digits of Pi
This really does work!!!!! You can use this technique for other things, such as phone numbers, library card numbers, credit card numbers, etc. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to comment or PM me or something! This stuff can be hard! And I would enjoy explaining it to you. Yes, that’s the kind of sick pleasure us nerds experience. Here are the sentences for the first 100 digits: My turtle Pancho will, my love, pick up my new mover Ginger. My movie monkey plays in a favorite bucket. Ship my puppy Michael to Sullivan’s backrubber. A really open music video cheers Jenny F. Jones. Have a baby fish knife so Marvin will marinate the goose chick. Simply remember those five sentences and the phonetic code, and you’ve memorized 100 digits of pi. I’ve created page where you can view the phonetic code and stuff, and also download a Word document with this stuff in it. (Instructions on page). pichart.pbworks.com I learned this from Arthur T. Benjamin’s book “Secrets of Mental Math”. He’s a complete genius!! It covers all kinds of awesome mathy stuff. I strongly recommend it. Thanks to 18Dylan18 for reminding me about this! Ohhh, and a really random note: check out my DeviantArt page! Why? ‘Cause I said so!! kokiri971.deviantart.com Images taken from: www.flickr.com web.mac.com www.untoldentertainment.com www.thecompliancecenter.com neurodojo.blogspot.com www.educat.hu-berlin.de spikedmath.com whatdoesthisbuttondo.tumblr.com

@MrPricklyMan Are you asking what it is when translated into numbers? If that’s it, then “turtle” is “1415″. The consonants are t, r, t, and l. t= 1, r=4, t=1, l=5, so 1415. If you’re wondering about the actual word, well you just spelled it there.

@avoided2007 If you want to learn pi in higher numbers of digits like that, a more advanced method would be more effective. This method is best for ranges around 100~700 digits. You can go higher with it, but once you get into the thousands, there are more effective methods. I don’t know what technique you used, but another method like that is probably better for higher ranges.

I could learn 1000 digits within three days with an other technique, it took many hours though. But I didn’t try this technique. Do you think I could go faster with it?

@anoymous712 Yep, that’s also a good method! Everyone has their own way of memorizing; I’m just suggesting one of them. If it works, go for it!

@2MissMagic2 I was thinking about making one. I’m kind of busy with school right now though, so it will probably be a little while. I’ll let you know when I finish it. Thanks for asking!
