@Pierceher It doesnt matter for open chords down by the nut except if you play classical guitar then they require the thumb behind the neck.

Oi Pebber i feel so awkward asking this..
man times during this video your thumb is peeking out..
is it actually ok to play some chords with your thumb like that?
I learned from you to always leave my thumb behind fretboard.. except for bendings.

Man, Thank you so much.

Dude these lessons shred,”These little tools”are so necessary for remembering, And this works because i can’t remember shit! I can learn something, then the next day try to play it, and pieces are missing especially if chords are over my head.

Like i said i was gonna come back and tell you how this worked out for me. Let me start by saying I did this for about 5-10 mins each day. The results I got were great i can now find the chord on the fret board no problem. I dont get the chord right every time because im still learning but in time i will. Thanks for taking the time to show everyone this it really helped me out. I will continue to use this technique. Thanks again

This is an invaluable lesson. I play guitar about 5 hours a day, and now I realize that the way I practice is rather inefficient. After a short time slapping my leg, I noticed this way is much more effective than my feeble attempts at improving. Great lesson Mr. Brown!

old grumpy men are the greatest teachers. not only are they usually very experienced, they also have no problem with kicking your ass if you get it wrong. it doesn’t matter what you’re trying to learn, guitar or advanced calculus, always go with the old grumpy guys.

@lewisself Practice it BOTH ways!

If you were playing song like say G, C then D or somthing, would you slap your leg inbetween each chord or just when you go from D to G?

@kinobiheart Thats what we called him to insult him as he freely insulted everyone around him most of the time.

@icame2dance1 Thats the technique! It really helps to do that on anything you are learning even if just for five minutes a day.
